Map Navigation
There are several ways to explore the map using the tools provided on the map and on a computer mouse.
Home/Full Extent - by hitting , the map will zoom out to the full extent.
Besides the + and - tools in the top left of the map, there are more tools achieve this effect with a mouse:
Zoom In
Zoom to a specific area by holding down the "shift" key while clicking and dragging a rectangle around the area.
Draw a new map extent by holding down the "shift" key and clicking on the map, dragging the cursor and releasing it to define the new display area.
A computer mouse with a wheel can zoom in by pushing forward on the wheel.
Zoom Out
Zoom out incrementally by holding "ctrl" and double-clicking the map.
Draw a new map extent by holding down the "shift" and "ctrl" keys and clicking on the map, dragging the cursor and releasing it to define the new display area. HINT: the size of the box drawn will be inversely proportional to the distance zoomed out. Draw a large extent to zoom out a small amount. Draw a small extent to zoom out a large amount. The Zoom Out tool will work for one operation, and must be selected again to do subsequent zooms.
A computer mouse with a wheel can zoom out by pulling backward on the wheel.
Map Orientation (north) - To rotate the map, right-click/hold on the mouse and drag the map until the rotation is appropriate.
Pan - To pan around the map, click and hold the cursor and then drag the map and release.
