Draw

By accessing Draw, a point, line or polygon graphic can be created on top of the map. A feature's look can also be adjusted by modifying the color, fill, and outline for the graphic. Text can be added, and the font, size, and color specified.

Start by selecting the Draw icon from the toolbar and select the type of feature to be drawn.

Point – Select options for the point style, size, fill and outline colors, and opacity. Click on the "Start Drawing" button and then click on the map to place points.

Line – Select options for the line style, size (thickness), and colors. Click on the "Start Drawing" button, click on the map and and drag the cursor along to draw the feature. Click and drag on the map to draw a freehand line. Double-click to complete the line.

Area – The polygon tool draws a shape around a specific area. Select options for the polygon fill (solid or styled), outline (solid or dash style), and outline width. Follow the tool tips on the cursor for each type of polygon. To start, click the "Start Drawing" button. Click and drag on the map to draw a freehand polygon. For a polygon with straight edges, click at only the vertex locations and the lines will connect. Double-click to complete/close a polygon

Text – Enter a text string (up to 30 characters) in the "display text" field, and specify options for size, color, font, and weight. Click "Start Drawing" and click on the location in the map where the text should appear.

NOTE: that these are temporary graphic elements, not permanent features within any map layer. They do not persist after the map is closed.

To clear newly drawn feature(s) from the map, click the "Reset" button.  (NOTE: Reset clears all features drawn by this tool, not just the most recently drawn one. It will not erase features drawn by other tools)
